How to fix error LNK2019?

How to fix an error message on my laptop (10-points)?

  • Recently I got an error message (Non-system disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready) and ever since that showed up I can not go into any other screen every time I restart it and let it load it directly takes me to that same error message is there any way that I can get around this error ? I've tried for 2 straight days I've been without internet use and I am beginning to be frustrated with it . I have a windows xp professional the model is sd.ms/pro.mmc.xd and the compaq nc 6320 if I put the windows xp disk that it came with when I first bought it will that fix this problem/error ? If so is there any store (I do not wish to purchase it online) that I can purchase the disk at ? Best answer will be chosen any answers are greatly appreciated I just want this error to be gone period . Thank you to those that answer my question .

The message is saying it cannot find an operating system. Now this usually can be fixed by removing any flash drives, floppy disks and/or CD/DVDs which may be in the system - anything which can be considered a 'drive' by the system. This message is given when the machine tries to boot to a volume which has no operating system on it. If there is no flash drive or CD in the drive, then you may need to run a repair of your Wiindows Installation. Boot to an Install Disk and run the installation repair. (The disk which came with the laptop may not be an install disk. This may be a recovery disk which will simply put your machine back to it's 'out-of-the-box' configuration. running this may destroy ANY software you have installed. Be sure all your personal data is backed up before doing something so drastic.) If you cannot repair windows, or restore due to problems with the drive, you do NOT need to buy a whole new computer! You just need to get and install a new hard drive. A local tech can assist you in getting the right drive for your machine. (The 6320 came with a 40-, 60-, 80-, 100-, or 120-GB 5400 rpm SMART SATA drive) I work with the entire line of 6220 up to the 6930 and they all have a very easy user replaceable drives. Once the new drive is in, you merely run the restore CD which came with the computer.

I think Mr.Stoddard is right. To make sure you can try Hiren's Boot CD or Ultimate Boot CD(they're free) and run the Hardware/HDD diagnostics programs, that will confirm that your hard drive is broken. If it is it can be replaced or you can buy a new computer (not HP or Compaq)

Non-system disk or disk error sounds like you might have done something that messed up your Hard Drive (it is actually "Hard Disk Drive"). If it really is your HDD, then re-installing windows won't help. At all. You might need a new computer, and if you are using a Compaq with XP, then it sounds like you needed a new one anyway :P. Edit: Or it could very easily be the same thing above. I didn't think about why it would be displaying messages if the HDD was broken... -.- Yeah. Try removing emptying all trays, unplugging all your USB's or other stuff and try restarting. I've had that problem before, it just never gave me an error message.
