if you double bag it and take it to the council recycle center, you shouldnt have to pay , we dont here (south west) we use a roll of damp proof membrane and gaffer tape to wrap it.

Are you in the UK? Taking the garage down is not expensive but disposing of the asbestos sheets is. I've got a pile of "Big Six" roof sheets and it will cost me £20 per sheet and I've got to double wrap each sheet in plastic and transport it to the tip. At this rate it will cost me £1000 to dispose of it. Of course I'm not willing or able to pay that sort of money, so I'll have to think of something else.

Ignore Jason, he doesn't know what he is talking about. I am a builder and I know you cannot just take the asbestos garage down. You have to inform the Council because of the potential risks involved, to your neighbours etc. The Council have a full service of demolition and disposal. In the North West of England it will cost you around £350 for this service
