They way I train new employees is to first have them master the latte. Short: 1 shot of espresso / 2 pumps syrup Tall: 1 shot of espresso / 3 pumps syrup Grande: 2 shots of espresso / 4 pumps Venti: 2 shots of espresso / 5 pumps syrup Iced venti: 3 shots of espresso / 6 pumps syrup Once you can remember that, CM's and A's are easier. I explain that CM get one less pump of syrup then a latte because of the caramel sauce on top. So... Short: 1 shot of espresso / 1 pumps syrup / caramel sauce on top Tall: 1 shot of espresso / 2 pumps syrup / caramel sauce on top Grande: 2 shots of espresso / 3 pumps / caramel sauce on top Venti: 2 shots of espresso / 4 pumps syrup / caramel sauce on top Iced venti: 3 shots of espresso / 5 pumps syrup / caramel sauce on top I then move on to the Americanos. I remind the barista to use a latte for reference when it comes to syrup and that shots of espresso just as easy as counting 1,2,3, etc. Short: 1 shot of espresso / 2 pumps syrup Tall: 2 shot of espresso / 3 pumps syrup Grande: 3 shots of espresso / 4 pumps Venti: 4 shots of espresso / 5 pumps syrup Iced venti: 4 shots of espresso / 6 pumps syrup (I wish I could give you reason as why the iced venti has only 4 shots and not 5) I hope that helps; try writing it down. Try not to stress out, literally everyday it will get easier and easier. It wasn't till my 3 month mark that I started to feel comfortable. I'm sure your store won't put you on bar during the morning rush; but do make an effort to try to get on it during the slow times. As your fellow employees for help. And if you keep asking the same thing over and over; write it down or have someone else write it down.
