How do I start a career without experience?

How do I start up an acting career with no experience?

  • I'm 15 years old and I really would like to be an actor. I feel like at the moment I am wasting my time doing absolutely nothing and wasting my life. I haven't really thought about being an actor until recently and I feel like its something I would like to pursue. I have absolutely no experience, but I am willing to learn. The problem is that I have no clue where to start. I live in New York so I know there is opportunity here for me, and I would like nothing more than to study acting. I am able and willing to give things up for this career. I would very much appreciate any suggestions. Thank You

I'm 14, and I have little experience. But, I've done my research. I'm so jealous, because your already one step ahead of me. You live in NY! You need to take lessons. And do lots of plays, commercials, ect. Once you've done all this you can start making a resume. Then try and find a agent. The more training/talent/experience/special skills you have the easier it is to get one(however, still not easy) do not get the agents that Make you pay up front. They are scams. Good agents will only take 15 or so percent (whatever it says on the contract) of your earings from a part in your movie. This is why it's so hard to get one. They must have faith you get a part. You agents will submit you for auditions. Although, they could submit you for 100 auditions, but you may only be invited to one. Then once you go audition, you are auditioning for hundreds of other experienced actors as well. Don't fear rejection. You will be rejected tons of times before you get a actual part. Maybe even hundreds! But don't give up. Tons of big stars have faced rejection. I take that back. ALL of them have faced rejection. Good luck!

Best thing to do is get some experience. Try looking into a Community Theatre near you. Also if your School has a Drama Club/Troupe. Try joining that!. Also PRACTICE. Look up some Monologues online and work on Comedy, Dramatic, Etc. I wish you the best of luck =) ~ Sam
