What is the risk of getting pulled over for disregarding Intermediate Drivers license restrictions.?
-
I just got my Drivers License in Washington State. I just want to know the risk of getting pulled over with my friends in the car. I just wana help my friends getting home, we dont live in the best of areas. I got a 95 on my drivers test, and know that in the State of Washington you are not allowed to "drive with passengers under the age of 20 unless they’re members of your immediate family (such as a spouse, child, stepchild, or siblings, both by birth and marriage.)" Do the police have to have a reason to pull me over like running a stop sign or etc to punish me for disregarding the rule? My friends are very quiet and I wouldn't usually have more than one of them in the back seat of my car. Thanks for the help. http://www.dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/teens.html I have had much more experience behind the wheel than many others my age. With my Dad, I have gone most likely 150 hours over the past 8 months. I have my own car, I know how to handle myself behind the wheel very well. My question is if the police need me to do something suspicious for them to pull me over in the first place?

Answer:
If you are a new driver your inexperience behind the wheel will be noticeable and cause enough to be stopped and have your license checked. Be smart and don't calculate how to avoid obeying the law. Breaking any restriction on the license is the same as driving without a valid license.
