  I'm sorry but all the "low skill" technician type jobs in the medical field are not at all "cool". They are hard work, with terrible hours, poor pay, low benefits, no chance of promotion, little control over your schedules or benefits and often really obnoxious working conditions. The "health trades" schools have been cranking out thousands of these "technicians" every year and despite what their cheerful ads promise, the jobs are menial and you are treated like a disposable impersonal unit, which is what you are because if you gripe about the conditions they will replace you in a heartbeat. You are the lowest person on the totem pole at any health care facility and they will not let you forget that. Don't waste your money on those "technician" programs. All you will get is a lot of school debt and then a lousy job with no future and poor pay. Get into a community college and start laying the groundwork for a real career in a degreed medical position like nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy or physician assistant. If you can't afford that, go to school for medical transcription or medical records secretary, even for medical librarian. Tech jobs are the worst -- my sister is a pharmacy tech at a hospital and it is a horrible job. She has to work nights and every other weekend, only makes $20,000 a year, is often forced to work unpaid overtime, has had hearing damage from the noise in the drug room but can't quit because she needs the medical insurance. Nothing "cool" about that.
