Is pharmacy technician a good career choice in todays economy?

The increased number of middle-aged and elderly people—who use more prescription drugs than younger people—will spur demand for pharmacy workers throughout the projection period. In addition, as scientific advances lead to new drugs, and as more people obtain prescription drug coverage, pharmacy workers will be needed in growing numbers. Job opportunities are expected to be good, especially for those with previous experience, formal training, or certification.

No. They don't make much money (minimum wage to 12 dollars an hour after years of experience with the same company) AND you do not need to go to school to become a pharm tech. You can get a job working at most retail pharmacies who will train you for this job. It is a thankless job where you don't get paid much and stand on your feet running around for 8+ hours each shift. Also you have customers scream at you constantly and be rude to you.

Yes it is a good job with advancement , pay isn't too bad. Chose your schooling carefully. Plenty of FOR Profit school with big loans out there. Check local community college for PharTech program at 1/5 cost of FOR Profit schools Community colleges have a better placement record and u can cash flow school with a fast food job.
