Whats a good beginner longboard?

Cheap-ish Longboard suggestions for beginner?

  • I've been really wanting a longboard lately and I'm getting reviews on what to start with. The most I'd want to spend to start with is 150. I know it wouldn't be the best of quality, but if I really like it I could start upgrading piece by piece. I basically would just be riding on flat pavement around my neighborhood and such. The only hills are very small. I mostly want to learn on something cheap before I move on. I just like cruising around really, and then start sliding. What shapes/sizes should I look for, and should I get a kick on the tail? I'm mostly interested on what shape would be good for a beginner, and I can work from there. A local shop here sells a lot of pintails and drop-throughs, would those be suitable for a beginner? If anyone can point me in a good direction I'd really appreciate it :) Thanks in advance.

I would most likely suggest looking at the Earthwing Superglider or Sector 9 Mini Shaka. For $150, those will probably be the best you can get. http://stokedskateboards.com/earthwing-superglider-complete.html http://www.daddiesboardshop.com/sector-nine-super-mini-shaka-complete-green.aspx
