Messi or Pele who is the greatest football player ?

Its difficult to compare them both as pele played 50 years ago. Messi has played fantastically for barcelona but pele played well for his country and lots of clubs. Also playing football i the 50s and 60s was a lot more difficult than today. At the moment i will say pele is still the greatest but if messi continues to play as well as he is doing then i would rate him up there with pele.

Messi is amazing, but he still has a long way to go to match Pele. Pele won the World Cup three times and he scored over 1200 goals in his career (most of which were for an unremarkable team - Santos). Messi has not yet played in a World Cup semi-final, and is playing in probably the greatest club side in history which must make scoring goals a lot easier. However, Messi is still only 24 (I find that hard to believe) so there is still time for him to win a couple of World Cups. I think by the end of his career, he will universally be considered the greatest of all time.

everyone who has witnessed players only in this generation should shut up because they no nothing about pele. There can be no real conclusion in whos better, the only way this matter could be resolved is if a brazilian player who played with pele came out and said messi otherwise people should stop worrying whos better and just enjoy this phomeonon called MESSI! MESSI! MESSI!
