How does printer works?

How does a printer works?

  • Answer:

No matter what type of document you are printing, whether it is a letter, spreadsheet, PDF or photo, and no matter what type of printer you're using, there are some similarities in how printers work. Software is responsible for sending the data to the printer. This software is known as a driver. The job of the driver is to translate the data from the application into a format that the printer understands. The driver also checks to see if the printer is connected, turned on and functioning properly.

the question is not clear. in software concept, printer consider a document as a image only. means it consider it in pixels. how many rows and columns are there. in hardware concept. .. while printing it will be printing line by line. Line by line doesn't mean that , if you are printing a word file, it will be printing first line in the document. instead it will be printing a line whose width is 1 pixel. (it depends on type of printer and print head) . this line will be a series of dots separated by varying blank spaces. got it.. this is in the case of ink jet. laser printers print whole page at a time. . drum printers will be printing a complete line at a time.. if you are asking for software concept, how a printer application works?? let me know.

Depends what sort of printer it is! Most cheap ones are inkjet. That is the printer head, which moves back and forth on a metal bar, has tiny holes in it. A tiny jet of ink is pushed through the appropriate holes to form the character. A roller rolls the paper from top to bottom. Don't ask me how the ink jet is actually activated. Try Wikipedia
