    First of all quality of canon's lenses is awesome and if you are amateur photographer you should improve your skills first..then go for a better lens for now 18-135 is good.

I ran into the same situation. My camera came with a 28-55mm lens. I purchased an 18-to-200 lens and found it just too darn heavy to lug around for any length of time. I sold the 18-200mm lens and got a 50-to-200 lens which is about the same physical size as the lens which came with the camera. Therefore in your case I think the 18-to-135 would be better to start!!

the 18-200mm is a nice one-lens solution. It offers more reach than the 18-135 (obviously), which may prove useful in many situations. if you got the extra cash to spend, I say go for it.
