What is Prom exactly?

Big prom dilemma, idk what to do and ticket sales end next wednesday! need help!?

• see i had been planning on asking this girl in my ap music theory class that i (kinda know) to prom tomorrow. but then just today, i found out that one of my best girl-friends apparently wants to go with me. now heres the issue. i have liked my best girl-friend for about a year, ( i did tell her about it a long time ago but we remained friends). anyway over these past couple months shes been getting all excited for prom and wanted these guys to ask her etc.. (she even texted an old friend in college if he wanted to go with her but that didnt work out). now with prom ticket sales starting to end, still no guys have asked her, but i think that sthe only reason she wants to go with me now instead of before, cause she doesnt wanna miss prom. now im all for helping her out but i dont like her as much as i used to and honestly itd almost be a little weird for me to go to prom with her, and i think id have more fun going with the girl i dont know as well. so now i gotta decide between: girl i dont know extremely well but i think id have more fun with at prom (who may or may not say yes), and one of my best girl-friends who just wants to go with me mostly cause she doesnt want to miss prom and cause she doesnt think anyone else will ask her.

  I think you should just ask the girl you were originally going to ask. Even though your friends might think of it as a douche move, I personally don't. If your best friend wanted you to ask her, then she should have done the asking. It should not have been the traditional (back in the day) experience where the guy asks the girl. Also, you are just her back up date, she was not originally planning on going with you, but now she wants to since no one asked her. Do not let that ruin your original plans for prom. There is nothing wrong with her going stag to prom.
