Where do you like to go in Philadelphia?

Where to go and what to see in Philadelphia?

  • Answer:

The Art Museum is a must. Also check out King of Prussia Mall since you don't pay sales tax on clothing and shoes in Pennsylvania. King of Prussia is about 25 to 30 minutes from Philadelphia, depending on where in Philadelphia your friend lives. The Philadelphia Zoo is overpriced and not worth the price. It's not that great. I've been to the National Zoo in Washington DC and it's free and much nicer.

Philly pretty much sucks, but the best thing about the city is that most of the things worth checking out are in very close proximity of each other, or on the same street. The Academy Of Natural Sciences (I go for the dinosaurs) The Franklin Institute (it's more of a technological science museum) The Art Museum (never been there, but heard it's good) The Liberty Bell (boring. Natives only go for class trips) Edgar Allan Poe House (yeah he lived in Philly. Alright for a brief trip) Betsy Ross House (yeah she designed our flag... another class trip place...) Geno's Steaks or Pat's Steaks (their clientele are mostly tourists) The Ritz Theatre (for artsier film-fans with a more independent or international taste) The Trocadero Theater (concerts, movies, drinking) The Electric Factory (bigger venue for concerts) J.C. Dobbs (small rock club) Crash, Bang, Boom (if you like punk rock...) Hard Rock Cafe (overpriced but good food) Ruth's Chris Steakhouse (a fancier steakhouse where they treat even bohemians like me well) The Philadelphia Zoo (it's not that great to be honest) Reading Terminal Market (basically a food mall - lots of international cuisine) The Gallery (a street-level/underground mall right near Reading Terminal) South St. (just a small strip really, with lots of stores. It used to be more interesting until about 8 years ago, but if you were a "weirdo", this was the place to be)

There are 2 major tourist areas in Philly. Old City is roughly from 5th to Dock St and Walnut street to Race The Benjamin Franklin Parkway begins at Love Park and ends at the Art Museum I would sugest a full day along the Parkway and on your second day go to south Philly to the Italian Market and then to Old City giving each a couple of hours.
