Is there a good Campground in New Jersey? Near the beach?

Best Jersey Beach Town that is close to NYC?

  • My friends and I are trying to plan a trip. We like the idea of staying in a beach town somewhere in NJ for a few days, and taking one of those days to go to NYC. I have been to NYC several times and I don’t really want to drive into the city. Can someone recommend a nice beach area in Jersey with some shopping and maybe a little night life and is easily accessible to NYC by train/Ferry. I preferably would like a place where I can park my car for the day and get to NYC, and then come back to our hotel in Jersey. Thanks!

    Well, you have Bay Head, Asbury Park, Long Branch, Bradley Beach, Belmar, Spring Lake, Manasquan, Point Pleasant Beach, Elberon and of course Atlantic City. You can take NJ Transit's North Jersey Coast Line, which is a commuter rail line, from New York City Penn Station to any of the aforementioned towns except Atlantic City. For travel to AC, you can take the either NJ Transit bus route 316 from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown or Amtrak from Penn Station to Philly and then NJ Transit's Atlantic City Line from there to AC.
