Has anyone volunteered in Kenya, Nairobi?

  • I'm strongly wanting to volunteer with the company IVHQ and teach music in Kenya this September, however after research i am worried about the safety over there? Theres been government warnings saying don't travel in Nairobi... but everywhere in Africa can be dangerous and it seems to much of a good experience to miss out on? Any advice about travelling in Nairobi would be greatly appreciated to help my decision, Many Thanks,

Nairobi is safe, People are peaceful and they do their day today activities without any security issue or fear. There are many foreigners in Nairobi.

In terms of safety I don't think you should worry. You are more likely to die in LA, DC or Detroit than in Nairobi
