What to wear for a college interview?

What should I wear for my college interview?

  • PLEASE READ: Okay so, I decided that I'm defiantly going to wear a blazer because they said that I have to wear smart clothing. I just can't decide what to wear with it. I'm torn between wearing a pleated skirt like this http://www.missselfridge.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=12554&catalogId=33055&productId=3746689&categoryId=213515&parent_category_rn=208052 or some jeans. But I wouldn't know what colour jeans to wear. and what should I wear inside the blazer? help!

  • Answer:

Part of this depends on what colour your blazer is and the cut of it...I'm just going to assume it's a standard, two-button, black blazer with (hopefully) no shoulder pads (or very little). I really like the skirt but I'd be careful with it. If you're taller, the skirt may seem short and a little inappropriate so you definitely don't want that. If you do wear it though (and your blazer is black), I'd suggest putting a brighter colour or pattern underneath (tucked into the skirt) to give the outfit a little pop and originality. http://www.urban-planet.com/eng/productdetails/redirect.cfm?sectionID=b2c/style/productDetails.cfm&itemID=051048282294&&var=d&ckey=CA&place_holderID=75&number_results=12&IsShopbyFilter=Y&viewAll=Y&IsShopbyFilter=Y ^A top like this (bright with pattern) could be nice. In terms of jeans, you're going to want to go for darker wash jeans. They always look more professional. Try dark blue or black. You can take the same options you used for your skirt to put inside the blazer with your jeans as well. If you do wear jeans though, make sure to add a belt (I like gold belts, personally) to tie the outfit together. So, here's an idea for you. Let's take the same shirt from above and pair it now with these jeans: http://www.urban-planet.com/eng/productdetails/redirect.cfm?sectionID=b2c/style/productDetails.cfm&itemID=051659206637&&var=d&ckey=CA&IsShopbyFilter=Y&viewAll=Y&IsShopbyFilter=Y ^Dark blue jeans Since there's already pattern to the top, I'd keep accessories fairly simple. I'd keep my earrings as simple studs. Here's a necklace: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=24190589 And here's a belt: (It can even go around your skirt!) http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=24083891 And here are some shoes: (I like the idea of a nude shoe for this outfit) http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=21205422&color=066 I created this outfit using this blazer as my reference to yours: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=22848733 Hope I helped!
