Were can I get law enforcement applications online?

Can you get a job in Law Enforcement with a community college degree?

  • So I'm a junior and my Biology teacher told us that going to a community college will not get you a job. At all. Is this true? I don't mean some job that'll make me loaded I just mean a career that I can be happy with. I want to do something in Law Enforcement(I'm well aware that you don't make a lot of money in this line of work. This is just something I really want to pursue- I want to help people) I already have college credit with my dual enrollment class I do at my high school. So at the end of my senior year I'll have a full semester completed of Criminal Justice but it only counts if i go to the college that i have the dual enrollment with. So am I completely wasting my time with a community college?

  • Answer:

Actually, there are a lot of community college degrees that have better job prospects than a lot of bachelors degrees: nursing degree (RN or LPN) , dental hygienist, rad tech, EMT, etc. You need to check with your local law enforcement office to determine what degree, if any, is required for admittance into the police academy. And it's possible that community college credits will transfer to any four-year university, not only ones with transfer agreements; it's just not as certain that the credits will transfer.

Your teacher is an idiot. First off, you can transfer to a university after getting all of your general ed/liberal arts degree and save A LOT of money for essentially the same education. Secondly, most PDs and Sheriffs Offices only require 60 credit hours at a Jr college to get into the academy, so a community college is fine for that.
