Chemistry Challenge?

Is a B.Sc in chemical engineering sufficient to be successful in a graduate program in organic chemistry?

• I am in my last year of my chemical engineering degree and am planning on entering a graduate program. I have been leaning towards starting a masters in organic chemistry and then transferring to a Ph.D in organic chemistry. I am concerned that not having a B.Sc in chemistry is going to pose a challenge for entering a graduate program.

  You probably already know this but Chemical Engineering is much more difficult than organic chemistry. Lots of my classmates have taken higher level o-chem courses such as advanced organic chemistry and while its challenging it doesn't really compare to classes like thermodynamics, and process design. As for difficult, if you can get a B.S in Chemical Engineering you shouldn't have great difficulty getting a graduate degree in O-Chem. As far as getting accepted into a graduate program I don't think your degree matters if you have all the requirements. In fact I believe cross disciplined scientists are encouraged.
