How to become a pharmacy technician?

-
Answer:
Each state differs in the legal requirements to become a pharmacy technician. Some states require formal training, training from certain approved schools, PTCB certification, on-the-job training, registering with the state board of pharmacy, a combination of these, all of these or no requirements at all. You can check your state's requirements at http://pharmtechtraining.net/state-requirements.html Keep in mind that if your state has no requirements or little requirements, employers may prefer to hire applicants who have gone through some sort of training or have PTCB certification. I would also suggest looking at your local help wanted ads to see what employers in your area are requesting/preferring of their applicants. Good luck!

Contact your local community college. Most community colleges will offer a pharmacy technician certificate. If you set up a meeting with an academic advisor they can tell you exactly what classes you have to take and how long you will have to go to school. Stay away from for profit schools. These are the schools advertised on the radio or TV that promise they will train you fast and get you into a lucrative career. The community college will be cheaper and your certificate will be more respected. Also if you ever decide to go back to school most of your community college credits will be excepted as transfer credits a 4 year colleges/universities. I hope this helps good luck with school! I am sure you will do very well! PS: I would never tell you anything that might impede your education I went to a community college for my first year of college and had a very good experience.
