Sick axolotl re temp (expert advice wanted on fridging)?

• My axolotl is sick, probably due to high temp tank and fluctuating temps due to poor control with ice bottles on my part. I have ordered a chiller online but it will not be here for 12 days. In the mean time my axy has a white fungus like substance growing on all his gills. I have looked into fridging him, but want to ask, can I use my tankwater fo the daily changes (as it has a filter on it) if I leave it running. Experts only please...
