Which Novel Should I Continue?
-
Okay, chances are, I'm getting my first novel published by the end of this year. However, it seems unlikely as I keep jumping between ideas. I have currently 4 different projects, one of which is nearly complete, but I am rather unsatisfied with, and I'm not sure if I should give it up and continue writing one of the others, or whether I should just continue. Here's a summary of each: Project Satchel (Unspecified Name): Satchel, a 16 year old boy who was born in the city of Hyperion, grows up by himself in an observatory on a hill, looming over the city of Safaria. One day, while fishing, he finds an unconscious girl floating on a piece of driftwood, and takes her home with him. After someone almost breaks into his house, the girl wakes up and tells Satchel not to let 'them' take her. She is referring to pirates who are after a legendary treasure that can only be opened by 'one not of their world'. The girl happens to come from another world and has the ability to make plants grow, and together they flee from the city and try to evade the pirates. The plot takes place in a steampunk world, with flying ships, eccentric landscapes, and bizarre automatons. Milo Skies - The Clockwork Tower: This is the one I've been working on the longest and has about 200 pages up until now. It takes place in a world similar to the one of Project Satchel. Milo Skies, a 5 year old boy, is sent away from the island on which he, his parents, and his sister lived, until a man showed up and tried to kidnap him for reasons unknown. He washes up on the city of Vaspiria, a massive metropolis containing the sacred and ancient Clockwork Tower, the largest tower in the world. After begging on the streets with his pet dragon, Gear, for seven years, Milo signs up for an apprenticeship with Locke, a Clock maker and Blacksmith. However, as his life gets better, the past catches up to him, and he finds himself in a complex plot with werelings, a race of wolf-like people, dragons, and the ancient gods of the region. Project Duestergate: Eliza, a 12 year old girl, is orphaned and sent to her diabolical aunt's orphanage, Duestergate. While coping with the mysterious death of her parents, she befriends Alice, her younger room mate, whom she shares a sister-like bond with, and a strange boy named Marcus, who is locked away in the western wing, hidden in a dark room which he never leaves. He claims to be a Dream Walker, descending from a long line of gypsy sorcerers, and has the ability to enter the dreamworld of others and himself. As Eliza gets to know Marcus more, she finds out about the dark history of Duestergate, as well as the death of her parents, and Alice's eventual murderer. And Finally: Project Ice: Set in an ancient northlandic world (that is heavily inspired by skyrim),a mysterious man named Alric Daggertongue seeks out the ancient sanctuaries of the gods, were the 12 relics, each representing one of them, are hidden. The relics are, in fact, the spirits of gods after they were killed, and contain a vast amount of power; whoever obtains all of them shall ascend into immortality. Alric, who is a demigod and skilled Skald, believes that they are too dangerous to exist and wants to destroy them. With the help of his friend's ignorant son and a mysterious (and attractive) fugitive sorceress, he goes on a journey to the edges of a land in war and beyond to locate the relics.
