Does taking antibiotics effect how well the birth control shot works?

Answer:
No. Antibiotics affect the way that estrogen is taken up by the body and so it makes birth control that utilizes estrogen (like the pill) less effective. Depo provera is progesterone only and there is only one medication that affects it's efficacy. It is called Cytadren and is not an antibiotic, I think it is used for cancer.
