What kind of mufflers sound the best?

  • I have a 1993 chevy silverado with a v8 and dual exhaust. I LOVE the sound of my truck but i have no clue what kind of muffler is on it. It has the shape of a flowmaster or thrush but im just not positive. What im asking is: What kind of muffler has a nice smooth rumble. not too loud, not raspy. My truck is smooth idling and then has a light roar when i accelerate. I have a new truck now and it has true dual glasspacks and i hate them, theyre just too artificial sounding and too raspy. Im going to get new mufflers for the new truck so i just want to know any suggestions. Smooth Rumble Roar NOT poppy, artificial and raspy Thanks in advance

Get a good set of name brand mufflers (not glass packs) and you should be fine. Glass packs sound great when first installed, but after about a year, the glass packing burns out and they start sounding ratty. Good quality mufflers will sound good and remain sounding good for as long as you own the truck as long as they aren't damaged through mechanical means or road salt and rust. Magna-Flow and Flow-Master are two really popular and good brands...
