If you look at the polling data, in the 60s, overwhelming numbers believed the analysis contained in the Warren Report. Earl Warren did not think the authors should stoop to defending the report, which members such as Ford were ready adn able to do. So what you had was a bunch of charlatans like Mark Lane who simply made up garbage to sell book, and no one was defending the official story, so gradually the numbers swung to where they are today, where more people think there was a conspiracy than believe there was not one. It's funny, anyone with ANY familiarity with the evidence knows that Oswald acted alone, didn't know Ruby, etc. The problem is that the "crowd" has been crowing about the Warren report being a whitewash for so long that I have met about 3 people who even bothered to read it. Oliver Stone filmed his garbage movie in a way to sway public opinion, and it worked.
