Do dreams really mean anything at all?

Do dreams really mean anything?

  • I have THE WEIRDEST dreams, and I love it haha! But I just wonder, when you dream something, does it have any significance to life when you're awake? I just woke up from a nap and I dreamed a tonnnnn of weird things. Like my ex and I were slow dancing in the back room of a store, and the store was owned by a quiet hippy/fortune teller woman. (I don't have feelings for him in real life.) Anyway some indian cheif guy came in and was like "you guys cannot be doing this, you must study!" Hahahaha crazy! There's a lottt of other weird stuff too. So do dreams really mean anything?

  • Answer:

"But I just wonder, when you dream something, does it have any significance to life when you're awake?" This is a great question, and seems to spark a lot of controversy on this board in particular. I don't know about the dream with the indian chief and fortune teller (not very much detail.) However, dreams have been proven time and time again that they are messages sent to you by your subconscious. We know that our subconscious's are very closely connected with who we are and send us messages to help us understand this. Our subconscious is the ultimate self communicator. When we dream we become very much so closer to your subconscious and we have a direct and symbolic view of persuasions lead by our subconscious. Our subconscious wants us to understand certain and important situations and dreams are a gateway for that. Now we generally don't get a direct interpretation, but we don't really need one. We all have feelings about objects. You feel differently about a clock than you do a flower than you do a dead body. When your sister has a blurred face and is killing babies, symbolism tells us that your subconscious wants to explore her identity and her intentions, particularly with the wonder as to whether her intentions are bad. This dream could be cross applied to many different recent/ major events in your life. Being able to better understand your feelings and how you work better improves your ability to handle real life situations. So while they aren't a prophet or a fortune teller, they certainly do benefit us in the real world.
