UC DAVIS OR UC SANTA CRUZ?

  • well well well. it's that time of the year. time to decide where to go to college after being accepted to a few. I applied to 4 UC's. davis, santa cruz, LA, and berkeley. La doesn't want me and berkeley hasn't replied yet. i'm a hard worker but don't have a very good memory. i want to be a psychiatrist. im graduating HS in june and will move onto college, living in a motorhome by myself. this will be for my undergrad studies. i live about 30 min from davis and 2.5 hrs from SC. i think im ready to get away and SC will be lovely- locationwise. plus is has all those cool colleges to choose from. ive visited davis numerous time and am pretty sure i domt want to go there, but it is such a better school. but this IS just my undergrad studies. SC will be fun. davis or SC? tell me your thoughts

    If you plan on going to graduate school, then for undergrad I think SC would be fine. It is ranked substantially lower, but that also means you will be able to pull off a much better GPA, which is the major factor that graduate schools consider. Both are good schools, but there is a tradeoff between a more fun, party atmosphere with a more inferior education at SC with the more rural and serious but great academics at Davis. In the end you have to choose the school you will be happiest, all things considered, regardless of rank.
