I would suggest your local library, but you said you wanted to read them online. My question would be why do they have to be free? If they're "free" then the author isn't getting paid for writing the stories you like. If the author's don't make any money from their books, they won't write more. New authors with great stories to tell won't write, because there's no monetary reward in it for them. Save up your money, buy books, and support your favorite author(s) and genre(s). Best regards.

The previous suggestions are good, but I will add one more. The Amazon Kindle for your PC. It is a free program and you can download tens of thousands of free books from Amazon. All of the classics are available for free and many new books are available more cheaply than they would be in paper ($1-$3).

Well, I know a site called Wattpad.com Its a site where millions of people around the world write their own stories for others to read : ) It wont have books like Tom Sawyer, Harry Potter or Great Expectations though..
