Smartass reply after job application?
-
I have been applying to companies about jobs by cold emailing. I have sent out around 20 applications today alone across my city. I have been really conscious about not having spelling mistakes and errors in my applications. However I have been changing around bits and pieces of my standard cover letter to personalize it to each employer and have seen an error on about 2-3 of my cover letters after I had edited and sent the emails through to my potential employers. For example one had a minor spelling mistake, on had two words that didn't have a space between them because I didn't realize after cutting and pasting bits. Anyway, the third mistake I accidentally said I was writing about a job at x company in y suburb. When I had actually emailed for the same company but in the suburb over. If that makes sense? Just as an example say I was applying for a job at mcdonalds in one suburb and on the application I had accidentally made reference that I wanted to join mcdonalds a suburb over from the one I was emailing about. Anyway I got a smartass reply saying "counting stars, I thought I owned x mcdonalds not y mcdonalds???" Completely rude, he could have just said "I think you might have mixed it up as I have the mcdonalds in x". How do I deal with this, it's sent out a warning sign never to take a job with him because he is a jackass but what else? Just let it go? I Replied to him apologizing but I did really want to write back a smart *** email.

Remember, he doesn't know you. He probably thought you were spamming or something and thus gave you that reply. But yes, it was your mistake and that is good that you responded respectfully instead of recklessly.

Perhaps you need to slow down and really focus on composing your cover letters and tailor made resumes because it is imperative to make them flawless.
