I need to make an Easter card.

Do I need to have a credit card on file in the iTunes store to make a purchase if I have a gift card on file?

  • I created an iTunes account with a gift card, and now I am trying to make an album purchase and it say I cannot make said purchase because I do not have a credit card on file. I have read some places that you need a credit card but then I have read some places that I do not need a credit card on file to make a purchase. So what is the deal with this? And if I do not need a credit card how do I get past the tedious screen asking for my nonexistant credit card information?

Once you associate it with a card, you can make purchases with your gift card without issue. Or bill to your card. Your credit card is associated with your account more for your personal protection. To connect the User with a form of electronic verification. So you can prove that account is yours, if need be. *note A debit card by visa from your bank [Comes for free] is fine too, if your worried about monthly payment of the card.

Ive never registered a credit card and it works fine with just gift cards. So no, you shouldnt need a credit card on file. However if it doesnt allow you to buy an album, might i suggest you just download it for free online? Way easier and a whole lot cheaper.

you dont, I dont use one on mine just make sure your gift card is registered (so when youre on itunes the amount of your gift card is shown) and Idk but for mine, when creating my account I just made sure I had my adress under billing information (even though there was no card)
