How long does it take to correct astigmatism?

Contact lenses + astigmatism = blurry vision?

  • Hey everyone, I just recently decided to take the plunge into wearing contact lenses for the first time in pretty much my whole life. I'm 27. I notice a slight problem with my left eye which unfortunately has an astigmatism. I find that my vision isn't very sharp and I'm constantly having to blink to try and make things clearer. I even have to squint at times. I also feel some mild discomfort, not pain, in the left eye. Almost like I have an eyelash on my eyeball or something. This is both before and after I removed them and rinsed them with the solution. I don't notice any tears or dirt on the lens. Is this just a matter of getting use to contacts? The thing is, my right eye feels fine. The lens feel comfortable and the vision is nice and crisp all the time. The left eye, not so much. Is it because I have an astigmatism in the left eye? It's a trial pair given to me by my optometrist. I mentioned this to her at the office but she said everything looked in order as to how it was sitting on my eye. Any advice would be helpful!

  • Answer:

They don't fit. You should have 'toric' lenses. These have 2 curves for your astigmatism. Trial pairs aren't made just for you either. These lenses must be fit! Find and ophthalmologist who can do it.
