How do I fix my fried iPod?

How much does it cost to fix a broken 2nd Gen. 8 gb Apple iPod, and how much is it worth as is?

• My iPod was dropped onto the floor a couple years ago, and the screen cracked (shattered bottom-left part of screen). It's worked just fine, including the touch screen in that portion of the screen. However, in the past few months, I've noticed my iPod isn't holding a charge. For example, I'll charge it for about a day (with an ac wall adapter) and it will appear to be fully charged. I'll listen to music for about half an hour, and then leave it be. A day later the battery will be dead. I'm not sure if this means the battery is completely dead (as in will never work again), or if there is another problem I'm unaware of. I've read that having WiFi enabled drains battery life, but this problem is fairly new, and I've been using WiFi on my iPod since the day I got it (2 and 1/2 years ago). Also, nothing I've read has suggested leaving WiFi on drains the battery this quickly. tl;dr: My 2nd Gen. 8 gb iPod Touch has a cracked screen and a battery that won't hold a charge for longer than a day or so (left idle). I'm looking for an approximation on how much it would cost to fix both problems, and also how much my iPod would be worth to sell (say, on eBay) as is.

  It'd cost quite a lot from a retailer, and even more from Apple. You're better off fixing it yourself; buy a new screen and battery, then replace them manually. Not actually too difficult, as long as you follow the tutorials carefully.
