Is "Pre-Medicine" a major or just a track?

Knee hurts when I run? Just joined track?

  • Well, around 2 or three weeks ago i joined Track and Field. Just at the begging of last week I started to experience pain in my left knee. It got gradually worse, but got much worse when I had track meet on Thursday where I explained to my Coach that under no circumstances I wanted to run so I could allow my knee to heal as it was getting better. He told me I did not have to run but he wanted me too. I do long distance so I am expected racesompetions a mile and a 800. I didn't do the mile and instead did a 800 (Two laps around a high school track). During my run it did not hurt and if it did I didn't focus much on it at all. After the race though I was in much pain and my knee hurt really bad, before It would only hurt when I ran but then it was when I walked. I iced it and I am icing it as I speak. I had track yesterday but I basically walked the entire time. I have a track mWednesday Wendsday and I'm really quite nervous because I know that my Coach probably won't want me to skip out on the mile again. I'm really nervous that my Knee will get worse and I won't be able to run in my meet. So basically my questions are the following How should I explain this to my coach? (I've only told him 1 or 2 times as I don't want to whine because he dosen't like it.) Should I see a doctor if it progresses to get worse? Should I run in my meet if I am still in pain?

  • Answer:

Be honest with your coach and make an appointment to see your docotor. I would not continue to run at this time. This pain doesn't sound normal to me.
