Why does my Internet keep going down?

Why does my internet keep going on and off?

    Okay so there can be multiple reasons. Either your router itsnt strong enough or your computer has a slow start OR when you turn your computer on it messes up the connection. Ex. We have a kinds old router and its not that strong so when I'm on my labtop I'm allways ussingq Internet but when my mom turns on her windows vista the Internet messes up because her labtop is newer and use up more of the Internet. So now when my mom goes on her labtop we all disconnect from the Internet. Then when shes connected we just turn the attempt back on or reconnent. I would maybe reccomend getting a new router if this method doesn't work.
