How do you cure homesickness?

How to cure or combat homesickness, especially on a lads holiday abroad?

  • Answer:

I think you have to realise that you are only going on holiday and you will soon return home. It might be good for you to rely on your friends for a short time. Will this be the first time you will have been away from home? I have learned a lesson over many years, the worrying before you do something, is worse than when it actually happens. Try to enjoy the holiday for what it is. There would be no point in going if you didn't. Home will always be there, you can have a break from it and survive.

Keep in contact with your family or friends whenever you can via email or phone etc, hearing their voices should help. Also I feel that being surrounded by a foreign language can sometimes make me homesick so try to visit English/American bars or restaurants with people that speak your native language. But when you're on holiday abroad you'll probably forget about your family and just be having an amazing time. Have fun! :)

Hey Mark, I have the same problem but i overcame it from not thinking about home or just trying to have a really fun time it really does help me out. Maybe go out with your mates more often and you might get used to the situation but until then try this is really does help me out Hope i helped!

It depends on your closeness with your beloved and affectionate parents. If you are free and frank, then there is no problem. You may also discuss this issue confidentially with any of your near and dear friends or relatives.

Just find some fun with your friends, do something you enjoy. It sounds like a cop out, but it actually does help to not think about it.

You either stay really busy or take the person you will miss with you
