How much do print models get paid?

How much do models get paid who attend an agency?

  • I just enrolled in a really good state licensed modeling and talent agency. I will be taking classes and they will send me casting calls, stuff like that. My question is, since I'm a student and i need to learn the ropes of modeling before I'm ready for anything big, when and how would i get paid? Would i get paid to do the casting calls? Do i even get paid at all while attending this agency? When do i start making the money? I just want to know when the consistent income will start rolling in, just to give me an idea. Thank you for your help, I'd appreciate expert and experienced advice to these questions since I'm pretty new to all of this.

  • Answer:

Rates would actually depend on the level of experience of the model and popularity plus the product that is being endorsed.

Didn't the agency explain all this or provide a fact sheet with your responsibilities and theirs? Lots of agencies do such so you know up front what happens. But if not then here's some older info. Most casting calls are not paid and most do not cover travel to the casting call, all on your dime. Now this depends on the agency's policy etc. Most agencies only pay you if you work. So first you have to be selected for a job before you receive a pay check. A fore warning is the money is not consistent or great for newbies as you are an unknown and unless you are a popular choice by the advertisers then work can be really sporadic for the first year or more. For many models the good money and more consistent income comes a few years down the road and only after a lot of work and a lot of travel.
