Why do I have to get a labial frenectomy?

  • my orthodontist said that after i remove my braces, i would have to get a labial frenectomy. On wiki it says that Orthodontic patients often have this procedure done to assist with closing a front tooth gap. I don't really understand how does cutting off the skin help to close the front tooth gap. Is it really necessary?

    there z something called high frenal attachment that means the fibers of the frenum are inserted between the anterior teeth so it keeps ur teeth apart,in order to close the diastema(the anterior gap) u have to have this frenectomy done. the results are great.
