Buy a Keyboard to learn Piano?

  • Hello, my name is Scott and I would like to learn piano. I'm 15 years of age and with Musical experience in guitar I have always wanted to play the piano. I have decided, dreaming about it will never make it come true! So I plan to pursue my dream. Any-who, I would like to know if I should get a keyboard first instead of buying a Piano straight away so I can learn the basics and decide if I would like to take it serious. I'm aware that they are different from each other in many ways however I don't want to spend my money on an instrument which I have no experience in. Just in case All opinions will be valued and revised, thanks! *IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ THAT* ----------- Should I buy a keyboard before I buy a piano to learn how to play.

Im on my fifth year of learning piano and i had a keyboard till just 2 years ago. I say go for it! Its definitley a lot easier space and money wise and if you decided to continue with piano you could get a big one later. They sound almost exactly the ssame and should have the same keys and everything

Im 18 and I wanted to learn piano so I bought a keyboard! It's a perfect way to see if you want to play or not because they're not too expensive (mine was about $100) and they are almost identical to a piano. Definitely get the keyboard and see if you like it. Plus, keyboards are more fun than a piano because you can experiment with different sound effects.

yes of course! i agree, because a piano can be expensive so without knowing for sure you love it, i'd buy a keyboard. just as long as the keyboard keys are like a piano, and that it has a 'piano' setting on it. which most do! i also play guitar and i play piano. lots of hard work but worth it! good luck

I've been working with the course for about a week now, and it's incredible. Just the practice aids and the different scales and memory techniques in Book 9 are worth the price of the course, alone! There are two things that make this course stand out. First, all the video and audio files are embedded in the lesson. I have yet to find another piano course that makes it this easy. It's so nice not to have three files going at the same time! The second thing is that you actually get to play in each lesson! And the songs are not "Mary had a Little Lamb" types! From the Beatles to Bethoven, it's all there. I have several piano courses that I have ordered over the internet. This is the one I use because it makes learning fun! I'm amazed! Once you get the rhythms down, you really can sound like a pro! Great fun! Thanks for making this available at such a reasonable price. Anyone who doesn't grab this up is going to go the long way home! Joy! Now ANYONE Can Learn Piano or Keyboard?
