What camera does iJustine film with?

Should I get a digital camera or a film camera?

  • I am in grade 9 and I have been in photography option class since grade 8. I LOVE IT! I am really thinking about doing photography through high school and even as a career. There is, however, a problem. I have gotten to the point where I my parents are willing to buy me a camera because they see that I really enjoy photography (I have been using my mom's camera) ; but I am not sure what camera to buy. The main thing is I am not sure wether to buy a digital camera or a film camera. From what I hear, film cameras seem to be more "fun" as there are more settings and such to play around with. On the other hand, I have been used to just using auto mode all my life with the simple digital camera! From my research my thoughts have been turning to the choice of the film camera, but I'm not sure. Also, is it possible to edit photos on photoshop with film cameras? Thanks in advance! -Piero

    Learning with film is a great way to go. BUT email the photography teacher @ your school and find out if you'll need a film camera or a digital camera.

I do a lot of photo taking and use both film and digital. I would honestly get a DSLR or digital camera right now and in the future buy a film camera just to mess around with.

I have both..and honestly film cameras, if you don't have access to a darkroom after you no longer are in high school, don't have photography, etc. they seem kind of useless! So if you like doing all the developing yourself, but won't have access after a certain time..I would say its not worth it..just think about the future before you buy and if you want to be able to upload the film pics to digital because then you'd also have to buy the equipment for it, they can be expensive. Digital cameras can be used for everything, can be emailed, edited, etc. yes you can edit film on the computer, but like I said you need the equipment for that. Just think about the future.
