Capture card display help?

i'm using a kaiser baas series 8 capture card and i'm running it through av from my ps3 to pc and it all works fine but when i playback it's not fullscreen it's normal but with the black sides around it , i haven't tried to apply after effects or vegas or anyting yet though btw. please note that my pc can run bf3 on ultra smoothly so it's not my pc.
