Infrequent Minor Chest Discomfort?

Is acidity and gas causing my chest discomfort or something else?

  • Hello. For the past week I have had GERD issues such as heartburn, indigestion, gas and burping frequently. I have been a bit short of breath and also have chest discomfort. I find it to be a dull fullness in my chest it feels like something is there kind of like fluid. I burp and it helps some but the discomfort is steady. I have some phlegm and was treated with Bactrim (1 a day for 20 days) and I am taking Zantac, Mucinex, cough drops, and Zyrtec (for allergies/asthma. I went to ER twice this week and they did blood tests and ruled out infection. I had an EKG to rule out heart issues. They gave me a G.I. cocktail to numb the esophageal discomfort and heartburn as well as fluids and Protonix in the IV. I am now home and I am stil sick despite being on Bactrim for a week and taking Mucinex. I do not have a cough just this fullness and achy feeling in my chest, gas, gurgling stomach, difficulty breathing, and burping all day. Is this GERD, asthma or pneumonia? Could it be bronchitis?

    Yeah..... acids..... Drink loads of water....... If you are staying up all night, stop doing so (or eat something at night)....... And the most important thing EXCERCISE. Go for a jog every morning. It will stop.
