What does it require to be a receptionist?

How difficult is a job as a medical receptionist?

  • I'm about to graduate high school and start college classes. I'm not entirely sure what I want to 'be when I grow up,' but someone suggested that I might be good as a receptionist. I think I'd like to work as a receptionist in a pediatric office, but I'm not entirely sure what the job would require. Can anyone give me an idea on what would be required, how difficult the job might be, et cetera? Thanks! :)

  • Answer:

I worked as a receptionist in a law firm and it was not difficult at all. I don't believe that being a medical receptionist would be difficult, either. However, I did this without a college degree. Generally, a receptionist does not make much money. Since you are starting college, I would aim my sights a bit higher.
