What is wrong with my Bearded Dragon?

What is wrong with my bearded dragon?

  • i bought two bearded dragons a week ago off a man i know they are both about 2 years old and i did lots of research.i was meant to only get one male but the man didnt tell me he also had a female so i took them both and the 55 gallon tank they were in.now a week later when i take my bearded dragons out my male puffs up his bearded and it goes black and he starts head bobbing.he then runs at the female and nudges her and kind of bites her but not hard just a little nip.the female most of the time just walks away but sometimes she bites back.why is he doing this and can a male and female bearded dragon live together

  • Answer:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your bearded dragons A male and a female bearded dragon can perfectly live together. every year, after the winter, a bearded dragon goes through his mating period. if a male is together with a female he will start puffing up his beard and start bobbing his head. he will also pinch the female in het neck. sometimes so hard the female starts to bleed. if the female is also ready to mate, she will start waving with her front legs. if the female does not want to mate, she may see the biting as an agressive act and starts biting back.

I used to own bearded dragons myself and this never happened to me. Maybe you should run him into the vet as soon as possible and see if they can do anything for you, he might just be sick with a cold or something, but it's safest to be sure.
