Should you haggle and have the car dealership fix a bumper on a vehicle you're purchasing?
-
Yesterday we found a 2009 GMC Acadia. The car dealership is asking $25,000.00. It has 48,000 miles on it. The problem is is that the back bumper on the driver side has a huge scratch on the black part of the lower bumper. It's not on the colored part of the vehicle. Im assuming the previous owner might of backed into a garage or a pole. The scratch is a big gouge out of the plastic. It is VERY noticeable. My husband said the whole plastic bumper needs to be replaced. The air conditioning system didn't work either nor did the back-up warning system. Those we know we want fixed. This is a big car dealership. We don't know anything about haggling, or if we should even try to get the bumper fixed. But I don't want to spend that much money and have a vehicle already marked up. Do we have them fix the bumper? Not sure if this matters but we are a married couple in our early 30's. We have a 2004 GMC Envoy with 89,000 miles we want to trade in. Thank you for any responses.

Answer:
DO NOT drive that vehicle off the lot if they haven't fixed EVERYTHING.......and I mean E V E R Y T H I N G!!!!! If you do, you will regret it. Dealers are big on promises and real slow on keeping them. They will give you the old line "oh, we don't have the parts in stock right now, but come back next week and we'll take care of it" B.S. these people say anything to get the sale completed, then do anything to get out of keeping their promise.

they should have checked out the car before you drove it now I would take the car to a mechanic and have him check the car out

Yes, you should have them fix it. I'm surprised they haven't fixed it already.
