What is civics exactly?

• What is Civics, what exactly does it encompass. I think I read on wikipedia it is the study of citizenship and there were some other stuff, but didnt exactly understand. What can you do, or what do people usually do who study Civics, and what is it called as a major in college, is it Civic engineering as that the same thing? Thank You

  I teach and write about civics. Civics is the study of how our government was formed, is organized, and operates. We learn about where the Constitution came from, its purpose, and what it says. We learn how and why the federal, state, and local governments work. There is no civics major in college. You're supposed to learn that stuff before you graduate from high school. Most high schools don't teach it because the republicans who run the schools don't WANT you to know how it works. When you know how it works, you'll know how to control it. When schools do teach it, they teach it wrong. My son is a CiviL engineering major in college. It has nothing to do with civics.
