Is South Carolina a good place to live?

Is Charlotte, North Carolina, a good place for people like us to live? (details included)?

  • Hi, I don't have an account so I'm using my son's. I am considering moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, for a job opportunity. Right now we live in a more affluent suburb of Miami, FL, so we're looking for a similar experience. Now, I'm married with children, so obviously I'm not talking about extreme nightlife. But I do want someplace where a person can walk around at night and that has numerous dining and shopping areas. We love to spend Friday nights and weekends walking around the city shopping and just talking, so I'd like something similar here. Furthermore, is the city itself pretty? Miami is gorgeous, with palm tree-lined streets and colorfully-paved roads and all sorts of greenery and public art. Will I find something similar in Charlotte? Now, we haven't started looking yet, but I would like to know of more affluent neighborhoods. Areas with nice houses, preferably gated if possible. Most expensive I can go is around $3 Million for a house. What good private schools are there in the area? Any Catholic schools? And finally, my wife and I have very socialite-esque lifestyles. My career involves meeting with clients and frequently hosting parties and social events. We can use my house for this, but I'd also like to be near country clubs or other such places where we can hold events or occasions. What are the best of these in Charlotte? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, I'd just like to really get a feel of the place! :) Thank you for your time.

  • Answer:

There are areas of Charlotte that will fit your needs The more affluent areas are in Ballantyne, The Sanctuary towards Lake Wylie, South Park, Piper Glen and Myers Park. For shopping, there are plenty of upscale malls and shopping plazas. Upscale eateries are plenty with our share of places like Del Frisco's, Sullivan's Steakhouse and the like. Catholic schools - yes, several elementary, a couple of middle and one high school. You really need to do some research and it would be a good idea to visit While its nothing like Miami, it is a good place to live.....
