Why Are You Going To College?

Why is not going to college frowned upon by society?

  • I am a female. I plan on getting married some day, and having kids. I want to be able to raise my kids strongly and have an organized household. Let's say I go to college...I'll go 2-4 years, waste $30-50 thousand dollars (even if I did get scholarships) and have a job in the range of 5-10 years then have to have kids and take care of them. I just wasted all of that money, time and effort.... How about I get a job in highschool, level up somewhat and have a salary between $10-$40 thousand yearly, and be on top instead of under, and keep gaining. It's my role to be a wife and mom anyways, and earning money would be better then wasting on college, true? Maybe I'm totally thinking of this wrongly, I don't know, but it seems stupid for me to waste all of that money and time.

I'm not sure it's frowned upon, but going to college does show that you are able to commit and follow through to achieve a goal. No mater what course of study a person chooses, they will surely gain knowledge along the way that will be helpful in a career and in life. Not everyone is a good candidate for college. If you can get a job right out of high school that will give you the opportunity to learn valuable skills and move on to the next job, and keep improving yourself, that's just as good as college. You don't have to go to college, as long as you keep learning on your own. Read books, watch documentaries, start and finish projects, develop hobbies and you will succeed. Life is about learning and teaching.

College isnt a waste of money, its a way to gain money. You have probably played the game of life before. When you go to college you can get up to 100,000 per pay day....when you don't, the pay isnt as high and there is a limit to how much money you can make. If you want the best life for your kids, then it is better to go to college. And who knows you may meet your soulmate there;)

I don't think it's frowned upon. At least not in my eyes. But I feel going to college is a way of showing you are capable of thinking (you'd be surprised how many people are not capable of this these days) in a wide and diverse manner. It also shows you are able to understand a vast amount of studies including general psychology, problems in society, mathematics, sciences, language, speaking and many other things. Life is a learning experience, and missing out on college is a lot of information which you could have otherwise learned. Even if you don't end up with a high paying job like a college graduate should, you came out a more experienced, educated person.. which I think is a good thing and well worth the cost.
