How can i help heal this burn?
-
My fault, but the other week i burned myself with a soldering iron while i was soldering some car electronics. I layed it on the floor of the boot for a second, forgot and put my hand down to lean to get the next wire to solder and about a second went by before i realised i put my hand straight across the hot iron! I burned my LH thumb on the outside (furthest from the fingers) right on the joint, i dealt with it properly but it isnt healing as quick as i would expect. It has been aghony constantly from when i wake up to when i sleep, like a headache in my hand. The only way i can stop it hurting is by dabbing abit of germ cream stuff that kills germs in cuts burns etc, and fixing a plaster over it which keeps the skin around it moist, like if you stay in a bath too long. Its really annoying to keep putting plasters over it, and surely it wont help it heal as it needs air? Just hurts so damn bad! I dont know, but i think it burned pretty deep as if i slightly knock it its complete and utter aghony!, and i know pain ive had kidney stones :/ just no sure what to do to help it?

Answer:
Take some ibuprofen for the pain, or paracetamol (although it may not work as well). If I were you I would give it an hour or so each day to 'air' (meaning do not cover it with a bandage/plaster but be careful not to knock it or get it dirty as this may lead to infection) Put sudocrem and aloe gel/cream on the burn and leave it to air for about 10 mins, then cover with a plaster if it helps ease the pain! If the burn is in an awkward place, which it sounds like it is, you'll just have to be a little more patient and take special care not to break the skin. Applying aloe gel frequently really should help though!
