Should I spend almost 10 years in school and become a Dentist or should I go for a simple but decent career?
-
Ok, sometimes I start to think....(omg you think lol) anywho.. im 17 years old and about to go to San Diego City College and i was thinking... i mean I know its gonna be worth it at the end but I think thats too much time in school to become a professional orthodontist 10 YEARS! well first I gotta get my Bachelors then I gotta go to med school. Thats 8 YEARS ALREADY! then i have to go through training so that i can get my license and all that, yeah imma be making bank but i dont know if its worth spending 10 years.. THEN.................... theres always simple careers like computer engineering Computer stuff like that you know.. they make decent money enough to live a decnt life without worries.. i live in San Diego btw and life here is EXPENSIVE.. my family is kinda poor though bcuz we get like food stamps and idk what else xD lol. So yeah guys what do you guys think i should do and what would YOU guys do..

Answer:
I think you should learn more about what it's like to be a dentist first, perhaps ask your dentist some questions, read some books, or even shadow a dentist for a day if possible. Medical school (you'd actually be in dental school) is time consuming and not to mention expensive. The people that survive the ordeal aren't just interested in the money, they most likely have a passion for the job.

Dentists make darn good money, and it depends on your determination.

Well i would tell you to do what you have interest in because when you are doing something you dont have interest in there is no how wnt would do it well. The time frame does not matter if you really love the job.

if you're not sure about it, you won't make it. It is very competitive and very difficult.
