What is the best and proper way to study for an AP Exam?

What would be the most effective way to study for the AP World History exam?

  • I am going to be taking the AP World History exam in mid-May and I am shooting to score a 5. I know that my target score is a hefty one, but I am willing to put in the effort. I was considering re-reading my textbook, but I was afraid that doing that would overwhelm me. I already purchased a study book (Princeton Review 2012 version) and I am going to attend all the study sessions my school is offering (12 total, one hour each). Any suggestions for how to study would be greatly appreciated, as well as anything else that could be of value. Thank you! (:

I took that as a sophomore and got a 3 lol but I'm going to blame that on inexperience as my average AP scores increased in my later years. I remember that my teacher always emphasized the SIlk Road as being in an essay prompt and we did get an essay question about the Silk Road that year haha. What I didn't expect and perhaps was the least prepared for was being able to compare different civilizations in such detail or compare one civilization of different eras. So I suppose quiz yourself about the political, economic, social structure of the important civilizations as they move from one period to another (especially China and its Dynasties). I suggest you make a big table or several tables with the left most column divided into periods and the uppermost row divided into politics, social order (classes etc.), religion, and anything you think might be a common factor, and then work with a group to fill them out. We did that as a class after each chapter and they helped to solidify and unify all the things we learned about one society or separate one society from another. Take into account the trading that went one and the movement of ideas, language and culture from one place to another. I think this is one subject that working together with a group of four or five people would help tremendously.
