How much are contacts?

Around how much are contacts?

  • I really need glasses . My mom won't by them for me because she's being stubborn . So I have to pay for them myself . & if I'm using my own money I may as well get what I really want which are contacts.. So the question I'm asking is how much (on average) is a box of disposable contacts? (I prefer colored contacts but it really isn't that important). I'll also need to know how much would the eye exam/lense fitting and any other expenses I may encounter . I don't think I have optical insurance or anything so its comming completely out of my own pockets.. By the way I'm 14, Iif that even matters . Thank you (:

    I'm not sure how much the actual exam would be (I have insurance) but my contacts cost around 40 dollars a box, which includes 6 lenses in a box. Beware though, if your left eye is a different power than your right eye, you'll have to buy two separate boxes.

You will usually need to buy a years supply of contacts at a time, and at America's best, for me it is usually around a hundred dollars for a year of contacts. I don't know how much the appointment and exam cost, but the contacts are usually around $100.

Well disposable contacts are around 20$. But if you get long lasting contacts the those are about 15$. now a eye exam is about 80 to 100$. Good Luck :)

I think at 14 you are going to find contacts too expensive to buy yourself. Costs are very variable. You'd need to ask around to find out how much the eye exam is. Prices of contacts depend on your perscription and the type you choose .Disposable lenses come as dailies, fortnightlies, monthlies usually. You also have to allow for solutions. Coloured contacts are more expensive , can't safely be worn for as long as they dont' let the light to your eyes. If you have an astigmatism contacts are more expensive as you need a type of lens known as torics. Also you need glasses as backup as you can't wear contacts all teh time. You need to sort out your mom's attitude first as she will probably have to give her consent anyway. What reasons is she giving? Have you had an eyesight test which says you need glasses? What problems are you having? Could you get another adult to speak to her? I suggest that you post another question with more details about what your mom is saying so we see if we can get round this problem first.
